Hello and welcome to the Discovery Coast Yacht Sales website.  My name is 
John Wilkinson.  I have spent almost two decades in the maritime industry
working as a commercial fisherman, shipwright, mechanic and yacht broker. 
My fascination with the sea and all things nautical is the fault of my dear father
who, as a favour my mother, would take me with him on his Saturday morning
fishing trips out of the old Oak Bay Marina.  He and his fishing buddies took great
pleasure in watching me bounce along the bottom of the boat with a line tied to
my middle.  The other end of the line was usually in the mouth of a fish that
weighed more than me!  Apparently I was some kind of good luck charm. 
Needless to say, my mother never knew about this.

I built my first boat at the age of seven, dragged it to the local creek, and
watched it sink before I could even get into my life jacket.  My skills improved
over the years and now my wife and I live on our 40' converted ex-Navy launch
that I completely rebuilt from the keel up.  My wife would like everyone to know
that the job has not been completed to her satisfaction.
(Wife's Note: It floats and is very cozy in a storm!)

I started Discovery Coast Yacht Sales with the intention of offering the best possible service to boaters on southern Vancouver Island.  I feel the best way to accomplish this is to hold only a small number of listings (10-15) at any time, and focus on finding the perfect new owners for them.  A good boat deserves a good owner.  It is as simple as that.  Boating is about finding pleasure in life and the experience of buying and selling should be an integral part of that experience.

Let me use my decades of experience to your advantage.  If you're selling, I want you to get a fair price for your boat, and for the sale to be conducted in a way that leaves you with happy boating memories, not a bitter taste in your mouth.  If you're buying, I want you to find the boat that serves your needs best, and I want the buying experience to be the first step on a long and happy voyage.
